You don’t have to struggle alone.
FAQs
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. Private pay allows me to offer better quality of care and also allows me to choose from a wider variety of methods. Some insurance companies will reimburse you for out-of-network services. I can provide a Superbill to you upon request.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I prefer to have a consultation so that both of us can determine if we think we will work well together. Please contact me at 707-395-8605 to schedule this. A consultation lasts about 20 minutes.
Do you work with couples or families?
I occasionally work with couples in which one or more people struggle with anxiety. Although I see teens, I do not currently work with families. If your family will need counseling as a unit, I will refer you to another provider.
What happens in therapy? How do I know it’s right for me?
Therapy will provide a non-judgmental place for you to talk about whatever is bothering you. The therapeutic relationship is unique in that the focus will be entirely on you. I will deeply listen to you, highlight strengths that you may not see, encourage you, challenge thoughts and beliefs that may not serve you, teach you new skills, and offer perspective. If something unrelated to anxiety arises during a session, we will focus on that if that is your priority. We may simply talk, or we may try alternate methods like creative work (no prior experience necessary) or mindfulness meditation. If you feel stuck or like your usual ways of coping with problems aren’t working, therapy could be helpful. Therapy is also helpful for untangling complex problems, finding direction, or for personal growth work. The duration of treatment depends on your goals and the complexity of our work.
What is your fee? Do you have a sliding scale?
Please contact me for a consultation to discuss my fees. I reserve several sliding scale spaces for therapy clients who need them. Feel free to inquire if any of these spaces are currently available. Fee is payable by credit or debit card for Telehealth services. I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate at the onset of therapy. A Good Faith Estimate provides the total estimated fees for the duration and frequency of your treatment, which we will decide together depending on your needs. This estimate does not obligate you to any services.
Do you offer phone, video, or in-person sessions?
I offer sessions in person and via phone and video or a combination of both. Telehealth is shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care. If you are outside of the Ukiah Valley area, we may only meet via Telehealth. Telehealth is not appropriate for everyone, and we will decide together what works best for you.
Do you ever work with men or those who identify as men?
Although I specialize in treatment for women, I am experienced with and comfortable providing care for men and male-identifying clients as well.
Are there any other disorders or conditions that you treat?
In addition to anxiety and anxiety disorders, I also treat these issues: grief and loss, identity issues, mid-life or other stage of life crises, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, sexual trauma and violence, gender and sexuality-related issues (including issues related to non-monogamy and kink), domestic violence, bipolar disorder, depression, and those who are generally seeking spiritual or personal growth.
Do you prescribe medication?
I do not prescribe medication or give advice about what medication to take; if you need medication, I will refer you to a medical doctor or psychiatrist. However, I can help you explore whether or not medication might be a helpful option for managing your symptoms and help you with accountability and tracking side-effects.
